Ladies Cycle Workshops
Thank you for your interest in our Ladies Cycle Workshops. The aim of these workshops is to provide an unintimidating introduction to the joys of cycling, for women who want to ride but are struggling with confidence.
We have two workshops planned; one for the beginner cyclist, who wants the skills and confidence to be able to ride on the roads. The second is a follow on from the first workshop, or for those who have mastered the basic skills and want to move to the next level, such as training for a cycle challenge or triathlon (you don't have to have done Workshop 1 to do Workshop 2).
The venue for both workshops is the Clevedon School Hall, Clevedon, Auckland. We will be holding the group discussion sessions inside, and our riding will be done either on quieter roads or around the school carpark/courts.
While you do need to be fit and healthy enough to be undertaking cycling, please do not feel like you are not fit enough to attend. All riding will be at an easy pace, so please be assured that you will not be left behind or holding anyone back.
We hope that you will come (and bring your friend(s)!). We have minimum and maximum numbers required so please register asap if you would like to come.

What Gear to Bring
Bike - In good working order. Workshop 2 requires you to have a road bike or time trial bike rather than a commuter bike or mountain bike. Please email us if you have any bike suitability questions or.
Bike Helmet – One that fits and is up to NZ safety standards.
Shoes – Either bike shoes with clip in pedals or comfortable shoes suitable for cycling. No open toed shoes or sandals please.
Clothing – Comfortable gear for cycling in. Bring warm gear in case of inclement weather – thermals, jumpers, leggings, jackets, gloves etc, and a change of clothing incase we get wet and need to change - and therefore, perhaps a towel too. One goal of the workshops is to give you more insight into what gear is essential for cycling and what your options are. So please don’t let “not having the right gear” be something that puts you off coming. Nobody minds what you wear, just bring something you can move in, and things to keep you warm and we’ll take it from there!
Drink bottle and holder on the bike – A bottle and bottle cage is required for Workshop 2. We suggest trialling your drink bottle before the day to make sure it comes out of your bottle cage easily while stationary. There is nothing worse than trying to get a stuck bottle out while navigating.
Fuel – Both courses are from 8:30am to 1:30pm so bring enough “on the go” friendly food/snacks and drink to see you through the course. We won’t be stopping to have a meal break but you will be welcome to eat during discussions etc.

Soigneur - (that's cycling jargon for Assistant)
Kellee Sandilands has worked as a fitness instructor and is a TriNZ trained coach. She is an experienced cyclist and triathlete (although if asked she’ll tell you she is just a runner now).
When she started cycling her choice of outfit was loose walk shorts over lycra tights, a cotton t shirt and a baseball cap under her bike helmet.
Both have had loads of “time in the saddle” and want to share their skills and knowledge with the aim of getting more of those women who want to ride but are struggling with confidence, into the saddle and cycling!
We hope you'll join us for an unintimidating step into cycling!
